Small Business Saturday – Trophy Blog #114

This Saturday (6th December) thousands of independent businesses across the UK are getting together for ‘Small Business Saturday’. The was founded by American Express to celebrate and support small businesses all over the world. It shouldn’t be confused with the other ‘Small Business Sunday’ set up by Theo Paphitis. The December event is just for one day every year, while Theo’s work I’m involved with is throughout the year. The whole aim is to get people to give the big brand shops and shopping centers a miss for one day. Why not try to make all purchases via independent traders? Would present buying be easier with someone on hand to give you the full details and make suggestions? Some people think that Independent shopping is more expensive, Why not find out? you will be surprised. Last year as part of the event, a group of business owners spent the day speaking with the prime minister and other government ministers about how they need extra help in their day to day trading. Current shopping trends have created a world where customers have so much to choose from. With a few clicks of a button while sat at home on your sofa, goods or services can be on your doorstep the very next day. Independent traders also offer online products and services, so why not give them a go? Some people prefer to get all the Christmas gift buying over and done with on the same day. So why not put the 6th December on the calender and make it this day. Customers are starting to want help and guidance with their purchases and independent businesses are ready to help.
