Blog #33 – Liverpool FC will aim to continue their 100% start to the 2013/2014 season when they welcome Manchester United to “Fortress Anfield” today. The two most successful clubs in English history will kick off at 1.30pm. Liverpool also have another reason to win. They are celebrating the birth of legendary manager Bill Shankly, this week marks 100 years since Shankly’s birth. Manager Brendan Rodgers will see his side go into the game above United in the table after winning their opening two games. Both of these games we’re 1-0 victories. David Moyes has never won at Anfield during his time in charge of Everton so he will be looking at breaking his duck with his new team. The man in the middle will be Referee Andre Marriner. He will need all of his training, a bit of luck, and a nice sharp pencil to keep everybody playing fair. Many of these matches have included Red cards and bust ups between the two rival clubs. Chelsea played at Old Trafford last week and parked the bus, built a wall and shut up shop. Each player cancelled the other out and only a few shots we’re registered during the game. Unsurprisingly it finished 0-0. Liverpool have kept two clean sheets so far this season in the league, but a small blip in the cup game v Notts County showed some extra work is needed at the back. After three premiership games, it all stops for the international break, so both teams will want to have 3 vital points from the game.
